SBTi Target Alignment

Three Pillars Consulting supported Omantel in developing and validating science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) requirements, tailored to the telecommunications sector and Omantel’s operational and value-chain context. The engagement focused on defining appropriate organizational and operational boundaries across network infrastructure, data centres, and offices, ensuring targets were credible, achievable, and aligned with recognized climate pathways.

The work included review of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, assessment of relevant Scope 3 categories, validation of baseline data, evaluation of target ambition, and alignment with applicable SBTi criteria and relevant sector guidance, including telecommunications standards such as those issued by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA). The outcome provided a clear and defensible pathway toward near- and long-term emissions reduction, supporting climate credibility, regulatory readiness, and stakeholder confidence.
